NetScaler unveiled the Request Switch 6000 Series at Comdex Las Vegas on November 12 and was named finalist for the coveted Best-of-Show award in the Networking Hardware category. During Comdex Fall, the company issued an eTesting Labs benchmark report measuring their Request Switch 6500 (RS6500) against F5's BIG-IP 5000 Switch and Cisco's CSS 11800 traffic management products. NetScaler's RS6500 traffic manager clearly outperformed both products in terms of site performance and site protection. Each traffic management product was stressed with up to 24,000 Web requests per second. NetScaler achieved one million simultaneous active connections. The F5 BIG-IP 5000 Switch was forced to reboot more than once during the test and was unable to establish more than 280,000 connections. The Cisco CSS 11800 was also forced to reboot and was unable to establish any significant number of connections. Additionally, the NetScaler RS6500 delivered throughput of 10,887 requests per second, 55% higher than Cisco with 7,034 requests per second and 11% higher than F5 with 9,773 request per second.

"NetScaler products are purpose-built to solve the two big issues of web site performance scalability and web site protection. Our customers have selected NetScaler for these capabilities. In addition, we have delivered the best price-performance ratio of any solution in the industry," said Patrick J. Conte, general manager and executive vice president worldwide sales and marketing. "We are also confident this new series will be a clear winner against the competition in 2002."
