Vic: Unions call for inquiry into cancer causes at work

The ACTU says more than 1.5 million Australian workers may be exposed to cancer-causing
substances while at work .. without even knowing.

Launching a three-year campaign to eliminate cancer-causing substances from the workplace
.. ACTU president SHARAN BURROW says the problem isn't restricted to any one occupation.

Ms BURROW says Australia has the world's greatest number of cases of mesothelioma ..

which is cancer caused by asbestos.

She's marked International Workers Memorial Day by calling for a government-led national
inquiry .. and more research into cancer-causing substances in workplaces.
