Fed: DEWR says skilled vacancies up 0.1pc in April

Vacancies for skilled workers have risen 0.1 per cent this month, almost eight per
cent higher than the same time last year.

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations' skilled vacancies index rose
to 111.2 in April, increasing across two out of three major occupational groups.

A separate index for information technology and communications vacancies published
on recruitment websites was up 2.2 per cent, almost 60 per cent higher than last year.

The Department says over the year trade vacancies have risen almost 20 per cent, and
associate professionals 16 per cent.

But professional vacancies fell 8.3 per cent.

The biggest falls in vacancies for this month were for metal and printing trades, while
the largest increase was for marketing and advertising professionals.
